Painting "Loss" by Ukrainian artist Sonya Osievska

The painting "Loss" by Ukrainian artist Sonia Osievska has been put up for charity auction. This is the first work of the artist, written after the start of the Russian invasion.

The artist tells about her work as follows:

"The first sketches were created the day before the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine. I did not know or realize anything yet, but my whole body felt very anxious. There was a clear feeling that something terrible would happen tomorrow. And so it happened. A week passed and only then, I consciously had to get a grip on myself, and start painting. I wasn't scared for myself, but I was scared for my country, my family, and people a love.

I thought about the pain of loss, that now families are losing their children, their beloved, husbands, sons, that the country is losing civilians. And I decided to create a personalized image of Ukraine - a portrait of a Ukrainian woman, mother, wife, beloved, strong, independent. Her spirit of strength and freedom cannot be broken even under the threat of death.
